Introduction
Welcome to Teaching with Learning Objects, a virtual guide designed to help nursing faculty enrich or construct courses with learning objects.
NEAT Design Teams collaborated with nursing faculty experts from around the country to create learning objects that address common teaching and learning challenges related to Health Disparities and Patient Safety. We are committed to helping you learn how to integrate NEAT learning objects (LOs) into your courses, as well as how to find and use other learning objects that already reside in online repositories.
Through brief explanations and many examples, you will learn the definition, styles and advantages of learning objects, as well as how to find, evaluate and use them.
In the "Blueprint for Using LOs" section, we will take you through the process of adding learning objects to your courses. We will demonstrate the entire process with an example of our own and get you started by providing a blank blueprint that you can complete as you go through this section.
In the "Tips and Tricks" section, we share stories and examples from faculty who have incorporated NEAT and other learning objects into their courses. To help you imagine how to enhance your courses with learning objects, they will share what has worked for them---and what has not. We also encourage you to share your own experiences with finding and using learning objects.
